Chastain is a known KC area gadfly, for lack of a better term. Also he filed with a mailing address of Bedford, Virginia, which raised a few eyebrows.

8 years into this district and we get a primary where a candidate doesn't win all 5 counties (Barham was a Democratic state rep for parts of Ray County in 1991-92).

Hopefully the redistricting puts more of Jackson County into the 5th instead of trying to continue this design which doesn't really make the 5th competitive or keep the 4th or 6th safe (MO4/MO6 would be safe with or without Ray/Lafayette/Saline)
