Any reason to think Linpinski won't pull out the same victory he did in 2018?

Not really, no. Especially since the opposition vote is split. But I wouldn't say he's a lock.

More attention to the race

Not really, the people who'd oppose Lipinski would really only have Newman to choose

It's going to be a tease like last election, isn't it?

The one good thing to come out of this Corona Virus Election Debacle is that Marie became the AOC of 2020...

Almost all of the remaining precincts (except 1) are from Cook. But Newman is winning there too. Machine failed to turn out for Lipinski

This is cute.

Politicoomer: what an upset
Not really. Unreliable primary poll aside, Lipinski came close to being ousted in 2018. All it took was a second campaign by a good candidate to get the word out to enough people.

The bigger question here for Chicago political insiders is this the end of Mike Madigan?
In the two most closely watched races in Chicago, he lost both. Backed Lipinski and didn’t back DA Foxx. Conversely, Lightfoot backed both Foxx and Newman.
Finally, Newman took on Madigan directly before votes were cast calling for him to stand-down as Speaker.
One has to wonder if the curtain has been pulled back on Chicago’s Wizard of Oz - Mike Madigan.

I'll believe Madigan is finished when I see his corpse with his head cut off and stuffed with communion wafers.

An incumbent losing is not always an upset.

That's underselling it. I may have an old friend on Newman's senior staff. This is wild.
So, lean Casten in that race?

The sounds you just heard was the cork from a bottle of champagne and Mike Madigan snickering getting the last laugh.

Well, now I'm leaning to voting Casten.

We'll probably have to wait and see the formal investigation before things pan out for Castens W, seems people are looking into legitimacy as the group who filed the suit is pretty Right-Wing

Newman’s latest FEC filings show she did hire Chehade as a foreign policy adviser—only instead of being paid through her congressional office, Chehade was hired through Newman’s campaign. - [Link]
