Yes, agree. Glenn's run of the county map more impressive when you consider Gilligan's loss.

also between this race, the primary and the 1970 primary ([Link] ), one could probably notice that John Glenn was from Southeast Ohio (he won 67% in Guernsey County where he was born)

also lots of rural appeal to astronauts, at least in D primaries
