Would be really cool if someone found the state legislative record to see what the vote was to appoint the electors.

When the semester is over I might try to see if the legislative journal with a roll call vote is still around. But that could take some time.

If I recall the notes in one of the Dubin books (The Congressional Elections Book probably) correctly, finding antebellum South Carolina newspaper sources was sort of a problem. So not sure how well pre-1861 official accounts will be kept up.

The 1860 South Carolina Journal of the State House mentions that the choice of Breckenridge was unanimous between both the House and the Senate and there was no debate or roll call prior.
