In ballot news, this special election will appear below the primary nominee question for R or Ds.

This is a boost for Boebert as she / the primary question won't be buried in the ballot.

It’s not really a boost for Boebert. I think most voters will know who the GOP special nominee is going into the election.

Also having a special nominee is supposed to consolidate the anti-Boebert vote around one guy, not take away votes from Boebert herself.

Maybe, maybe not. Certianly would have been worse the other way around.

Ultimately I think the biggest roadblock to her election in this district will be how many opponents end up on the primary ballot. She'll probably get 30-40%. More opponents the better for her.

Special election set. In a surprise move, Dems selected Trisha Calvarese over Ike McCorkle and John Padora.

What's the lay of the land here? Is Lopez Trump-y. Does he have a real shot at being just a placeholder? Is Boebert making headway?

Oh well now I see Lopez is only running here

Lopez is very Trumpy. Worked in the SBA under Trump. Pretty hardcore and was really a placeholder for Boebert and Flora in the special election R selection. Most republicans who supported either Boebert or Flora voted for him in the Special Eleciton to prevent a local pol from getting any momentum.

In the race for the GE Primary, I think Boebert won't get a majority of the vote but with the Trump endorsement and the divided field she's likely to win the Primary.

Currently qualified for the primary ballot are Boebert, Flora. Sonnenberg and 1 other are likely to make it to the ballot through the assembly race: [Link]

The more that make it on the ballot for the primary, the more likely it is Boebert will win the primary. I see her getting somewhere between 30 - 35% of the primary ballot.

Not that it will make much of a difference, but the SoS has released the ballot order for this race.

1. Frank Atwood (Approval Voting Party)
2. Hannah Goodman (Libertarian Party)
3. Greg Lopez (Republican Party)
4. Trisha Eloise Calvarese (Democratic Party)

I've often wondered if I should add a ballot order field.

I could swear that you once did either consider it or answered someone asking for it, but I thought you were against it. Biggest issue would be if there's a different order for each county.

Both Colorado and New Mexico SoS release ballot order. Although I think it happens on county level in some other States.

I think in California the order of candidates is rotated by Assembly district for statewide candidates.

Yeah, I've been landing on the "no" side, but just barely.
