Galicia's election today is noteworthy for being SUMAR's first ever foray in a regional contest. Testing SUMAR's mettle in hinterland competitions and coming out reasonably well is key to this new party's long term success, and survival. High hopes were dashed, however, and Yolanda kept the CodornĂu in the cellar - SUMAR took an apoplectically bad 1.90% of the vote, noted with some shock in the press [Link] Also noted, perhaps with some relish by Pedro's foes in the media, is the historic devastation the Socialists suffered in the region at the hands of (mainly) the Galician nationalists. Headlines scream like this one from El Mundo [Link]
