Of all the candidates Raskin prolly has the best route (Aside form Jon Cardin running on Name Rec alone)

Noting I'm often wrong about MD elections despite growing up in Baltimore--

- I hope Raskin stays in the House, but wouldn't be surprised if he ran
- If Jon Cardin's name recognition meant anything, he'd have been AG in 2014 so I think he's limited to the State House
- Will Jawando would be hilarious, his wife's a better politicians and refuses to run for anything
- Sarbanes is too comfy where he is
- Mfume couldn't make it happen in 2006, don't see it happening now
- Trone doesn't fit the wider state too well
- Olszewski doesn't strike me as a statewide candidate
- Jealous and Alsobrooks could be formidable if they want it, but I think would come up just short

Of this group, it's Raskin and Alsobrooks (but I don't know if she'd take the risk) as frontrunners. But for such a deep blue state, I'm surprised there isn't someone who excites me more.

Trone and Alsobrooks are near certain to run. They've both been gearing up for statewide campaigns ahead of today's retirement and hiring staff.

The name recognition from Jon really only comes from the fact this is his Uncles Seat. It's common for people to just give it to the family, this is probably the only one he can go up in the world.

But Raskin's been a prominent name in the media for a bit so I think most are waiting to see what he does first before entering. Because it might be optically bad running against Raskin for both political and personal reasons, but I could be reading too deep

The "Pat Bryan" endorsement is a typo and should be removed.

I remember when Raskin said he planned on not making an endorsement and wanted to "Focus on keeping it blue"

I guess Trone's Racial Slur made him reconsider

Looks like having every Dem in the state practically backing you may just beat out unlimited money. I still think Trone can pull this out but I have no doubt Angela Alsobrooks has all the momentum right now. I’m not even going to try to make a prediction on this one. Who can get their base out (Montgomery vs Prince George’s Counties) and what does the possible of increased turnout in Baltimore do?

Any chance someone interesting joins this race in the next few days?

Dave Wasserman checkmark to Alsobrooks.

Pretty good victory for Alsobrooks here, she really surged in the final few weeks.

She really ran a great campaign. Reminder that money is important, but less so in primary campaigns.

Putting in a News article about Trone's mini-scandal for posterity, since I think that gave Alsobrooks an opening.

between this primary and MD03, 2024 might be another good year for female candidates in Dem primaries
