This probably won't happen, but imagine if so many Democrats jumped into the race and only two Republicans jumped in that Democrats lock themselves out of this race by the two Republicans getting number 1 and 2 in the top-two primary respectively.
It's not that far-fetched. Republicans locked themselves out of a very Republican state senate seat 2 years ago because of this.

Yep. It can happen. That's why I think this type of primary is stupid.

It's going to be either Atkins or Kounalakis.
|
|
|
Progressives should be upset if Atkins doesn't get it.

Weird Cal State Long Beach poll. They both polled completely different candidates than the Tulchin poll even though Tony Villar and Lt. Gov Kounalakis have both already announced.

Sounds like Harris is gearing up for a gubernatorial run.

Can someone please delete one of the two Stephanie Nguyen endorsements of Eleni Kounalakis? It was duplicated by accident.

We can safely remove Karen Bass from the potential list of candidates, I think.

Hikikomori Blitzkrieg!: We can safely remove Karen Bass from the potential list of candidates, I think.
Is there a source suggesting she won’t be?

Democrats are the ones who keep denying deserving candidates a shot at the nomination.

If Kamala jumps in, I wonder if some of these Ds will think about jumping down to another statewide race. Lt. Gov, State Treasurer, Insurance Comm, and Supt of Public Instruction are all open seats.

It would certainly be field clearing for sure. I think Porter, Kounalakis, and a lot of these other Dems will drop and go for another race.

That would be very surprising to me although I would never discount Democratic candidates willingness to run away from a fight or Democratic voters willingness to reward someone for their lack of success. Obviously name recognition is off the charts but she really hasn't run in a competitive state race yet.

Yes she did.. she won by less than 1% in 2010.

At least Kamala would have her own administration, just not the one she wanted a few months ago.

Good call, I missed that one. Although with the jungle primary I guess I'm still less concerned about her ability to beat a Steve Cooley than I am about her ability to beat a Katie Porter.
