The CSV for the first time in 10 years has an opportunity to lead a majority government coalition. The collapse of the Greens cuts off Bettel at the knees. Frieden could rally the ADR and reach 30 (maybe more) if he musters up enough charisma to enchant and woo the Pirates to his side. After the Czech Republic, this could be the second time the Pirates joined, and made the difference for, a right-of-center government.

A dimension in the coalition talks will be who the government nominates to be the country's EU Commissioner following next year's EU elections. Bettel has been discussed for a potential EU job, but the CSV has people who want the job and the LSAP has the Commissioner slot right now.
