A few more hours until nominations close! First round ballots will go live tomorrow afternoon. You will have five votes; top five plus ties will advance to the final round.

First round of voting has begun (had to take some time to make sure no dead people voted in the last round). Vote for top six!

Twenty-four hours left in the final round of voting.

I propose a schedule for our five End of Year races:

-December 22nd at 11:59PM: nominations close
-December 23-26 at 11:59PM: nomination round of voting*
-December 27-29 at 11:59PM: first round of voting**
-December 30-January 1 at 11:59PM: final round of voting***

*Nomination Round of voting will consist of voting for candidates you believe deserve to be on the ballot. This is designed to eliminate candidates nominated just because one member really likes/really dislikes that person. Each member gets an unlimited number of nominations; those candidates who do not receive multiple nominations will be struck from the ballot.

**First round of voting consists of each member receiving a finite number of votes. The number of votes, as well as the number of candidates that will advance to the next round, will be determined in advance by the number of nominees. However, the number of candidates that will advance to the next round should be in the single digits (around seven - one row).

***Final round of voting consists of a ranked choice voting system with the remaining candidates. Candidate with most votes wins.

Two Notes before this long post ends:

1) When adding final nominations for the three performance-based superlatives, please add a link to an article or race page that shows why that person was picked.
2) The "Hot Dude" and "Hot Mama" races are light-hearted and to be construed as attempts to combat the adage that "politics is show business for ugly people", with both points reflected in past competitions. We may want to consider changing the names of these races moving forward to "Mr. OurCampaigns" and "Miss OurCampaigns" to reflect the pageant-like nature of the race.

Works for me. Thanks for organizing Indy!

Wholeheartedly agree on Point 1 - sometimes I don't know the context for why a candidate was added by a site member.

An article helps provide the detail and actually may help a more obscure candidate claim victory.

I think we should add "biggest upset winner" maybe we can do a 2022 special election for that one sometime in January/February. If enough people like this idea I guess I can add it.

A few more hours until the nomination round is finished! First round ballots will come out on the evening of the 27th; will give me time to triple hand count the results and conduct an audit (kidding - or am I?).

The first round will consist of picking your top seven nominees; top seven plus ties will advance to the final round.

I'm sorta loathe to add another category to silly races because I like the ones we have, but I've been thinking about this one for a while because there are number of us here that seem to like this aspect of campaigns - but won't if there is not enough interest. Anonymous vote.

Are you in favor of a new silly race "Outstanding Campaign Logo of the Year"

First round of voting is open! Vote for your top seven in each race. Top seven plus ties advance to the final round. Voting is public so that there is verification people only voted for seven candidates. The final round will be a secret ballot during voting; votes will be revealed once voting is closed.

I:6738IndyGeorgia ( 4590.47 points)December 27, 2024 07:56pm
Voting for more than seven candidates invalidates all of your votes.
