The devastation brought about by Le Pen's NR which forced a panicked snap election called by President Macron aside, the EU parliamentary results for Germany are far more ominous. The AfD managed to amass a popular vote better than all three German ruling coalition members combined [Link] Olaf Scholz's SPD saw its worst electoral result since the late 40s! Arguably, its worst ever [Link] The situation is so dire for the SPD, that it is estimated that more than a million SPD voters jumped ship to vote for the AfD [Link] Scholz sits at 25% support [Link] and has remained one of the least popular European leaders for more than a couple of years now. He's driving his party to below ground (polling below the AfD, of all things, and in some polls by double-digits?!?). The German press is apoplectic - resign or hold new elections, à la France [Link] [Link]
