This cannot be the same candidate. Austin F. Flegel, Jr., who served in the Oregon Senate and was the unsuccessful 1950 Gubernatorial nominee, would have been 24 years old on March 4, 1915, if he had been elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.

The Austin F. Flegel who ran for U.S. Representative in 1914 must be his father, Austin Finck Flegel, Sr., who, among other things, served one term as Portland City Councilman and held other civic offices.

Mr. Flegel, Sr., having been born in 1864, would have been 50 years old when running for U.S. Representative in 1914.

on checking Newspapers.com, there was a 1914 article about Flegel Sr being admitted to the bar in 1892, just to hammer the point about which candidate was the one running here.
