Sir Keir is on the clock. General consensus is that he needs to turn it around. All sides of Labour are complaining.
How much time does Keir Starmer have left as Labour Leader? |
Until the next election. Will be given the chance to lead Labour into the next election, but will lose to Tories and resign. |
8 (66.66%) |
Before the next election. Will be given some more time, but won't make it to the next election. |

About 1 week. Will not make it past these horrible election results. |

A long time. On target to be the next Prime Minister. |

He won't be left around to 'muddle through' until the next election, which appears to be taking place in 2024 (Goodness!). Too much at stake. How can he 'improve' his 'performance', whatever it's been, during that time? He'd need a Frankensteinian head and body transplant. The public doesn't like him. This has been made amply clear this week.
For Labor's sake, he must do the proper thing, like Corbyn, by resigning, and in undue speed.

Young Sir Keir.
Guess he's releasing pictures like this and doing interviews with Piers Morgan to humanize himself.

Durham police launched their inquiry on Friday after the local elections, having previously said they did not believe an offence had been committed.
The event under investigation took place at the constituency office of City of Durham Labour MP Mary Foy, where Sir Keir drank beer and ate curry, while lockdown restrictions were in place. [Link]

Honeslty, whats good for one is good for the other. Labour is still calling for Boris to resign because of his COVID infractions. Even though Boris has refused to resign, it would be hard for Labour to say the same logic shouldn't apply to Starmer.
Although I suspect he wouldn't be offering up his resignation if he didn't already know or was highly confident he wasn't going to be fined.

He may be confident he's not going to be fined, but if he did, he was going to have to resign regardless of today's statement after all the criticism he has laid on Boris. The Labour Party would probably push him.
Today's statement puts the pressure back on the Tories. They can't say that Keir should resign because they would then have to admit Boris should resign (unless you're cool with being a hypocrite). In the meantime, Keir Starmer will be portrayed as a man of integrity and principles compared to Boris.
The most pressure is now on the Durham police. Fine Starmer without an airtight case and the left will claim the Durham police has been pressured. Don't fine Starmer and the Conservatives will claim Keir's statement created pressure on them.
After all this, though, maybe the Tories will get what they want. People have heard in the press that Starmer may have done something wrong but may not end up hearing he didn't do anything wrong. Many Brits don't know much about Starmer, so now their impression of him will be a little less rosy.
