That didn’t take long. Jones already breaking ranks from Democrats.

That's pretty much him trying to be fair and not go incredibly partisan against Trump in a red state. I don't think there's an indication that he'll bend over backwards for Trump.

I figured this could go 1 of 3 ways.
Option 1 - Jones, realizing he has no chance for re-election, uses his term to be a traditional liberal Democrat and becomes a reliable liberal vote.
Option 2 - Be a more or less traditional southern Democrat ala Manchin. Vote with Dems on organization, but be a target vote for Republicans on close votes. Figuring Alabama voters might re-elect him as Democrat if he votes and acts like a Republican on most issues.
Option 3 - Give lip service to some Republican issues to keep moderate Republicans supporting him for re-election along with liberals, African-Americans and young people. Enough lip service to seem reasonable to moderate Republicans, but not too much to piss off liberals, African-Americans, and young people.
Looks like he’s going for somewhere between options 2 and 3.
I still feel he has no chance for re-election. The Trump embrace is surprising.

I personally love how some left-wingers are already pissed at him for these comments he’s made and saying he should just switch parties and good riddance. LOL
And he hasn’t even been sworn in yet! 😜😜

Trump embrace? Working across party lines is what every elected official says, whether they mean it or not. The harassment thing is a disappointment, but better Doug than pedo.
