Description | When Pennsylvania was forced to cut seats in the House of Representatives after the 2000 census, 10-term Republican Rep. George Gekas was given a new district designed for an easy run for re-election.
But with Election Day just three weeks off, the race has been anything but easy in a battle that could help decide which party controls the House.
Gekas was pitted against another sitting congressman, five-term Democratic Rep. Tim Holden, in one of only four such races in the country with House incumbents facing one another -- and, by most accounts, the closest one. |
