Description | Stressing his Panamanian ancestry and belief in the "American dream," former Nebraska Republican Party Chairman David Kramer launched his bid for the U.S. Senate on Tuesday.
In a 30-minute speech to about 75 friends and supporters in Omaha, Kramer said he would compete against former Attorney General Don Stenberg for the GOP nomination to challenge incumbent Democrat Ben Nelson in 2006.
"I've been blessed. I've lived the American dream," said Kramer, 40, an Omaha lawyer whose mother, Hilda, immigrated to the United States as a 16-year-old to attend college.
This will be Kramer's first bid for public office. But he has long experience in politics, having been active in state and county politics as well as his four-year stint as GOP state chairman. |
