Stenberg announces Nebraska Senate bid

| Description | Embracing what he called the Republican Party's "acknowledgement of God's role in our national life," former Attorney General Don Stenberg said Thursday he will seek the 2006 GOP nomination for the U.S. Senate seat he failed to win five years ago.
Stenberg, who served three terms as attorney general, presumably would face Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson, who defeated Stenberg in the 2000 election by the slimmest margin since Nebraska began directly electing senators in 1916.
Nelson has not yet announced that he will seek a second term but has given no indication that he is not running.
Hoping to bolster his support among Christian conservatives, Stenberg said, "there are two visions competing for American's future.
