Info | Despite my undying patriotism and love of country, I am a reluctant candidate. I was reading about the candidate everyone is hoping will appear...the young, urban, progressive, tolerant candidate. Fortunately or not, that's me. And it is my duty to step forward now and run. If the country needs me, if you need me, I will be your President. We certainly need someone - someone with new ideas, old values, and vision and inspiration.
I want to be proud again. I want to believe again. I want the magic of America back again, and I want it to run deep in our souls and our spirits, and shine in our eyes and our hearts. From sea to shining sea.
Doesn't anyone remember how John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan would send chills down our spines just thinking of our awesome capacity for good, and for leadership in freedom, technology, space exploration, justice, education, the environment, and fortitude. We were the light of freedom and goodness and progress and justice in the world. Our power was tremendous, and we used it only for good. We spoke softly and carried a big stick. We fought injustice in every corner of the globe, and every citizen of the world knew they could count on us for peace and justice. Doesn't anyone remember? That is the pride I want for our country, That is what I want our children to feel, and to remember, when they look at the flag, and read about our history.
I want our children to know the country that fought for freedom and independence in 1776, that fought the fascists and the Nazis, that sacrificed her children on the beaches of Normandy that others could know freedom. That is the America where I want to live. My country 'tis of thee. Sweet land of liberty.
We need a safe nation and a safe economy. We need a strong military. We need to send explorers to Mars in 3 years, and colonize the moon and our solar system. We need a Cabinet Secretary of Medical Technology, who will oversee an Apollo-style effort to cure every disease in 10 years, including a czar for every major condition, including a cancer czar (and deputy czars for brain cancer, and leukemia, and so on), a fibromyalgia czar, a multiple sclerosis czar, and czars for RSD, Parkinson's, ALS, Alzheimer's, drug resistant bacteria, and all the others.
We need a law that no one can give a sitting President any gifts or awards, including the Nobel Peace Prize. Even the slightest appearance of influence over the highest office in the land is not appropriate.
We are a nation of immigrants. We need to stop the war on immigrants.
A democracy is not an anarchy. We need to respect each other. I see us sliding into a cycle of infighting and bickering and gender blaming. We cannot do this. Divided we will be conquered. Divided we will fall. Does anyone think that they will arrive at the end of their life and say, "I really wish I spent more time blaming the other gender, or race, or religion?" That being said, those who commit wrongs based on gender, race or religion must be held responsible - and that includes those who would kill in the name of a peaceful religion.
My mother is an immigrant, from Canada, and my father grew up poor in Queens. His mother was a schoolteacher. My parents struggled financially as young parents in the 1970's, but they had courage, and they worked hard and saved vigilantly, finally reaching the American Dream in later years. I want everyone to have those opportunities, to work and save and advance. America must not be a country where the government works for itself, or for a small group.
Because people will ask, yes I am related distantly to President John Adams. I am his 3rd cousin many times removed, directly descended from his great-great grandfather. That is a very distant relation, but it is true that a tiny little piece of the first Vice-President of the United States lives in me.
I am deeply and passionately committed to the advancement and protection of the United States, and to the adherence to our true values of freedom, opportunity, and justice for all. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work hard for a law degree from Columbia University School of Law. After that I worked as a lawyer, college philosophy instructor, Assistant Attorney General and prosecutor, saving and striving, as a plaintiff's lawyer taking on fraud, and helping friends run for office. I want everyone to have the best opportunities to work and get ahead in America.
