InfoBorn in Galena and a graduate of Durand High School, Marty attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb where he earned a degree in Political Science. Marty advocates volunteerism and has been a strong supporter of the American Red Cross, having served as the board chair, volunteered in Mississippi for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, and now serves as the volunteer Government Relations Manager for the Northwest Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross. He is also a member of several other community organizations and attends both St. Mary's Catholic Church and Grace Episcopal Church.

Marty and his wife Jennifer reside in Galena with their three children, Danielle (16), Amanda (15) and Ryan (13). Jennifer is a professional ballroom dance instructor with 16 years of ballroom dance experience and enjoys teaching both adults and youth. Together, Marty and Jennifer enjoy ballroom dancing, golf and spending time with their children.

While employed by Illinois' Secretary of State Jesse White, Marty has helped usher ethics back into the Secretary of State's office. As a Field Liaison, Marty worked with Driver's Facility staff, local officials, schools and others to bring change to the daily operations of the office and expand services throughout northwest Illinois.

Marty will bring a host of experiences to the job of Illinois State Senator. Since announcing his candidacy, he has been discussing issues, goals and objectives. Marty looks forward to walking throughout the 45th District to discuss with the voters, issues which are important to them.
