Prelli represented the 63rd District (Canaan, Colebrook, Hartland, Norfolk, North Canaan, Winchester and part of Barkhamsted) from 1991 to 2003. A graduate of Northwestern Connecticut Community College (1968) and Central Connecticut State College (1970 – BA, Mathematics), Prelli worked for Aetna Life & Casualty Insurance Co. from 1970 to 1981, and has run independent insurance agencies since 1981.
In 1995 Prelli was named Connecticut Farm Bureau Legislator of the Year, and in 2002 he received the Farm Bureau’s Agricultural Statesman Award. As Master of the Connecticut Grange, Prelli heads a community service organization that works on rural-urban issues on the local and state levels. He was elected Treasurer of the National Grange in November 2003.
