Jackson is suffering a somewhat unfair "once bitten, twice shy" situation with Cunningham (full disclosure - I worked with him and his now-wife many years ago on a Senate campaign). Jackson's a real one, but Democrats have been burned with candidates perceived as dry white toast, not only with Cal but not McAuliffe. The loss in VA was practically an in-kind contribution for candidates like Beasley.

I'm not sure if this is still the CW in the state, it's been a while since I worked there, but there's also a stigma about candidates from the Charlotte area and their ability to win statewide.

The diffrence between them and Jackson is that he actually has broad appeal. Has Jackson still not made a platform despite running a full year: yes. But he has still managed to not really do anything to alienate anyone from the coalition

Sad about this one. Jackson is a great candidate. He will be back though!!! Possibly for governor in 2024 if stein does not run or for AG in 2024.
