We'll see if they do today, but I somehow doubt it. Regardless, it will be interesting to see if Vinny Smith or Mike Ross emerges as the de facto Republican candidate, kind of like Tom Tancredo did in 2010.

No, and he can't even be dropped off the ballot (unless the NC SC flagrantly ignores the state laws) but the party can designate a different person who will receive all of his votes in addition to any they get from being a write-in. Such the typical religious fundamentalist politician.

I do not think he can be replaced on the ballot necessarily, maybe they can make new ones with a new nominee while Robinson remains on the mail in ballots, Minnesota did similar things to that IIRC. But Unless Robinson is making his way to the BOE office in the next 39 Minutes, it's a non issue

It’d be unusual, but I can think of one precedent for a general election candidate dropping out after ballots began getting printed - Robert Torricelli in the NJ Senate race in 2002, who dropped out due to a corruption scandal and was replaced by then-recently-retired senator Frank Lautenberg. And he dropped out September 30th. The NJ Supreme Court upheld Lautenberg staying on the ballot by a unanimous vote, too.
