I just got my ballot today. This was the first presidential election that I didn't vote in. However I did cast my vote for Rik Mehta, Frank Pallotta, Herb Yardley, write in for Town Council and BOE. I voted No of weed legalization (I' am still pro weed legalization I just think we are overtaxed in NJ and while the sales tax is relatively low it's not when you compare it to all the other taxes). I voted yes on the peacetime veterans question. And lastly No on the redistricting amendment. I will be bringing it to Newton tomorrow.

I just realized today that, at least from a lawn sign and campaign ad perspective, you'd hardly know that there's a US Senate race in NJ. Have any other NJ residents had that experience?

The only republican nominee for U.S. Senate in NJ that I truly liked was Bob Hugin (only because I met him lol) and even then he was so meh to me. Welcome to a blue state I guess. On the topic of Rik Mehta, I happened to see him at a local business up here in May, but other than that this campaign is so lame and that's new for New Jersey.

Hugin at least had the distinction of running in a race where the incumbent seemed to be in danger (even though Mendendez ended up getting a higher % of the vote than he got in 2008), so I can see Republicans being excited about that, and Democrats wanting to show support. But I've seen more lawn signs for county races than for Senate this year, and I tend to think of the county races as the ones people pay the least attention to.

Hey NJLBT (your account is private so I'm posting the message here). I was wondering once you are able to edit we could tag team filling all the containers for municipalities in the great state of New Jersey. Just let me know if you are interested in that and what county you would want to start with! Maybe I could do half of the municipalities and you do the other half...

Your going to hear a lot of people say 2020 was a blood bath for NJ republicans, but that really hasn’t been the case. Sure we lost bad in NJ 3 but that’s really it.

If you wish to fill those containers, your home county of Morris has results that date as far back as 1985 I believe.

I mailed in a voter registration change today. I changed my registration to independent after having registered as a republican voter in 2000 when I was 18 years old. I will consider changing back if the GOP drops their worship of Donald Trump... (yeah right...)

Its hard to know what a Republican really is these days. It used to be about right of center politics, belief in a market based economy, smaller government, and lower taxes. Now its a party about one man, and its a personality cult based on revenge against his enemiies Even those who disagree with that direction are afraid to speak up.
Still, you can't change it from the outside. I'm sitting on the back benches in the party now, I'm accused of being a RINO, but I have a vote in the process.
Something to think about.
