Working on fixing the endorsements tab. Many of the endorsements for Molly Gray were sloppily copied over from the endorsements of her Lieutenant Governor campaign. As of right now Peter Shumlin, Madeleine Kunin, Matt Dunne, Sarah George, Tim Briglin, Joan Shannon, and Mary Sullivan have not endorsed in the congressional race and should be removed.

I had assumed that there were going to be competitive caucuses here and for Ward 8. Based on the large number of candidates that ran in the Ward 3 special election last summer. However, that belief turned out to be wrong. This and the Prog caucus page for Ward 8 can be cleared if it makes for a more concise site.

Also Benning running statewide is definitely interesting. I don't know if he is quite a genial enough person to appeal to the Vermont electorate the way Phil Scott has. But he has the right ideological brand, and in some ways is more liberal. Especially on criminal justice. But with that, he is disliked more by the conservatives in the legislature than Scott is. Don't know if that will necessarily translate to the primary electorate but it could get heady if someone like Meg Hansen wants to run again. He definitely is formidable and should not be treated lightly. He has the potential to break the non-Phil Scot GOP curse, especially in a Biden midterm.

Most of the endorsements cited here (via her Instagram stories tab) are from her Lieutenant Governor campaign. I would recommend limiting the endorsements until we get a re-established picture of who is supporting who.

Huge shift with both Baker and Polito both announcing they're not running for re-election. Unless Republicans can recruit someone substantial like Patrick M. O'Connor or Bruce Tarr this is now Diehl's race to lose. Likely D flip imo.

The only one who even expressed interest in running against Welch was Tanya Vyhovsky and only if Bernie didn't endorse Welch. That said there might be one or two blast from the past candidates who might try and be a paper opposition to Welch. Their will also be at least two cranks running as is the law of all Vermont elections.
Don't know what source is being used for Miro here. He has never expressed in running for federal office but has expressed interest in the Governor's race.

I suspect almost all of them drop down to the House if Welch runs. Leahy was a pork king during his time in the Senate and voters will want someone of similar experience level to continue to keep federal subsidies rolling in.
Obviously, Peter Welch will not get a seat on Appropriations as a freshman Senator but he is in a good position to argue that he is the only one in the field with the experience and know-how of the workings of Congress to continue to deliver for Vermont.
Beyond that Vermont loves its incumbents and Welch has proven to be just as universally beloved as Leahy and Sanders. Even when he does have major flaws come up (such as the insider trading x opioid deal) they rarely receive any media attention and voters tend to react negatively when the mudslinging comes from other candidates.
