Brown Jackson strikes me as being the natural choice from Biden's perspective. Harvard College, Harvard Law, Harvard Law Review, clerked at three levels of the federal judiciary, including for Breyer himself, and federal bench experience at the trial and appellate levels as well. Would have liked to have seen a bit longer of a tenure at the appellate level, but I think she was quite transparently nominated to the D.C. Circuit to be groomed for SCOTUS, and an extended appellate record produces amply more opportunity for controversy in any case.

I think that passing over Kruger for SG, while elevating Childs and Jackson, indicate Biden and his judicial advisors may prefer the latter two.

It’s hard to say how I personally lean. I probably disagree with most of her doctrine but balance is an important thing to maintain on the court.

Why are people predicting "safe"? Is there any reason to think the vote for confirmation won't be 52-48 with Collins and Murkowski joining all Democrats?

Collins already said she might vote no because they are "rushing the process". (Unlike her being okay with rushing Amy Coney Barett.)
Romney says he's open to voting for Jackson.

I think some folk assumed this is the nomination rather than confirmation.

Safe for the OG nomination, and I don't see anything to indicate she won't get at least 51 Votes

GOP senators continue with their line of "She's good, but that doesn't mean anything."
Sen. Blunt: "“I think she’s certainly going to be confirmed. I think it’ll be a high point for the country to see her go on the court and take her unique perspective to the court.”

I didn't realize Ketanji Brown Jackson was the judge who sentenced the Comet Pizzagate shooter. Puts quite another spin on the Republican questioning.
