Romagnano was a registered Republican in Escambia County during the time of the election, registered Democratic after the general election
Under Florida law, a candidate can qualify to be on the ballot by minimum signatures or qualifying fee but in order to have votes counted in Florida you have to be a "qualified candidate" and you go to any SOE in Florida, and before each election you will actually see SOE offices, especially with NPAs and write-ins, issue instructions on which candidates are "qualified" and which are not because votes for a candidate are not counted if they were not "qualified" which in Florida means formally filing, even write ins have to file, appointing a campaign treasurer, filing campaign finance reports.
The only thing a write-in does different than an on the ballot candidate in Florida, when qualified, is no signature requirement or qualifying fee
Pam Childers turned in at most 2,200 signatures based on a campaign budget of $220 and 10 cents per signature, and she had turned in at least 3,000 in 2016 based on her campaign budget
The office required 2,130 to qualify if using signature to qualify for office by being on major party ballot....meaning 2,200 are turned in and you strike 71, then under Florida law that person is disqualified and the next place finishing qualified candidate wins, so if it was determined Childers was below 2,130 valid signatures, under Florida law she is DQ'd and the next first place qualified finisher is, by law, supposed to be sworn in. |

How do I remove "Republican primary winner"
I actually prefiled for this race for the Republican primary, had intended to try and challenge as a Democrat to get on the November ballot but Florida has a 1 year rule, that you have to be in a party to run on its ballot as a major party candidate.
I was unable to raise the qualifying fee so was a qualified write in, and in Florida only votes for qualified candidates are counted. I have maintained Childers did not have the minimum valid signatures (she chose signature petition rather than qualifying fee) but that has come to naught so I have prefiled in FL House of Rep 2 as a Democrat, as you can verify with Florida DOS.
But I am new to candidate creation, and I was trying to use Childers, and make her GOP nominee, as she was in 2016, she was not an NPA but was unchallenged.
And if a race didn't yield a primary, but someone filed and did not run, how do I note that?

The data source just was "Write-In" - it doesn't identify that all of them were cast for Mr. Romagnano. https://enr.electionsfl.org/ESC/2755/Summary/ Is there an online data source we can use to validate?

Under Florida law, only votes for qualified candidates are counted. So any write in vote counted was for Romagnano, as Romagnano was the only qualified write in in the race
https://escambiavotes.gov/candidate-list
Go to 2020 general......
Under Florida law....only votes for qualified candidates can be legally counted.
