President Rajapaksa dissolves Parliament and calls snap elections for April 25, 2020 [Link]
The Sri Lankan Election Commission on March 13, 2020 [Link] postpones the elections due to COVID-19 then sets a new election date of June 20, 2020 on April 20, 2020 [Link]
Election authorities postponed parliamentary elections for a second time on 6/11/20 [Link] to take place on August 5, 2020.
A total of 196 legislators will be elected directly to the 225-member Sri Lanka Parliament from 25 districts. The remaining 29 are appointed from a National List composed of individuals nominated by their parties based on their share of the national vote.
