Part of JBE's problem is that voters in blue states are far more willing to vote for a governor from the opposite party than southern red states. JBE is posting an approval rating in mid-to-low 50s and has towed a pretty conservative line, minus a few issues like medicaid expansion, and the main anchor around his neck is still party label more than anything else.

It's gonna be close, but Rispone is not exactly "credible" ...I know his approach can work in deep red states, but Rispone also just recently made a claim that JBE had disgraced the reputation of West Point and that didn't go well...I agree JBE wouldn't be governor without Vitter, but I think he's gonna be holding on...he's lucky he isn't facing Abraham

I heard that Abraham's son-in-law gave $5,000 contribution to JBE's reelection according to campaign finance reports.

African-American voters may very likely be his saving grace for a second term. They are about 4-5% more of the total vote in the run-off than the primary.

I really hope Louisianans aren't stupid in voting out a popular Governor with a budget surplus on tomorrow night.
