BBC Constituency Profile:
Taking in the centre of the Welsh capital and suburban areas in the north-east of the city, the constituency contains many of Cardiff's most recognisable landmarks, including the Millennium Stadium and Cardiff Castle.
It's also home to a large student population, giving it a different demographic profile to most other Welsh constituencies - just 10.6% of the population are aged over 65.
The seat was held by the Conservatives between 1983 and 1992, and then held by Labour until 2005 when it was won by the Liberal Democrats. In 2010 Jenny Willott won with 41.4% of the vote, ahead of Labour on 28.8%, the Conservatives on 21.6%, Plaid Cymru on 3.4% and UKIP on 2.1%.
