BBC Constituency Profile:
The well-to-do west London seat of Kensington comprises Earl's Court, South Kensington, High Street Kensington and Holland Park, with Ladbroke Grove and Notting Hill in the north. The seat's commercial heart is the High Street, while South Kensington is home to museums and the Royal Albert Hall. Many of the capital's European embassies are also based locally. The seat houses newspapers including the Daily Mail and Metro, which are published by DMG Media, formerly Associated Newspapers.
More than 22% of working-age residents are managers, directors and senior officials, according to ONS 2011 Census data for England and Wales, the highest constituency ranking.
The seat was re-established for the 2010 election, which Sir Malcolm Rifkind won for the Conservatives with 50.1% of votes, followed by Labour on 25.5%, Liberal Democrats 19.6% and UKIP 2.1%. Rifkind is stepping down this time after cash-for-access allegations led to his suspension from the party, with deputy mayor of London Victoria Borwick selected to stand in his place.
