| Description |
The Pierce County GOP selected Dick Muri as their first choice by a 20-16 vote over Steve O'Ban, but when the appointment came before the Pierce County Council his appointment was rejected by a 3-4 margin. O'Ban's appointment carried unanimously. Javier Figueroa, University Place city councilman, was the third choice put forward for the appointment.
The appointee will not be subject to election this fall because the filing deadline has already passed.
