Description BBC Profile:
James Pawsey held the seat of Rugby and Kenilworth for the Conservatives from 1979 until 1997, when Andy King took it for Labour with a majority of 495 votes.

King held the seat with an increased majority in 2001, but Jeremy Wright re-took it for the Conservatives in 2005, with a majority of 1,628 votes.

Following boundary changes the seat of Rugby and Kenilworth has been replaced by two new seats: Rugby, and Kenilworth and Southam. To find out what might have happened had this boundary change been in force at the last election, see a notional - or estimated - result below.

This West Midlands seat has a diverse make up with a mix of industrial working class and more affluent rural areas.

Rugby is also a diverse town; the north and centre are industrial and working class. In these areas lies the railway line on which the town's past prosperity was built as well as the heavy engineering firms through which its present prosperity is maintained.

The south of the town and the rural areas are more middle-class and affluent.

Dairy farming is a widespread activity in the more rural areas.
