Description BBC Profile:
Tottenham has been a Labour seat since the 1950s. David Lammy became its MP in a 2000 by-election after the death of the incumbent Bernie Grant. Lammy has a majority of 13,034, winning 57.9% of the vote in 2005.

There are no boundary changes affecting this seat.

Tottenham falls within the London borough of Haringey in North London, stretching from Seven Sisters in the south to White Hart Lane and Northumberland Park in the north.

It is unusual for a London constituency in that industry contributes a great deal to its economic output. The strong industrial presence is built around engineering and confectionery firms, while high-tech industry is also doing well, particularly at the Lea Valley Technopark.

Two higher education establishments are also based in the constituency: the University of Middlesex and the College of North East London.

Large Cypriot, Turkish and Irish communities live here, as well as many people of West African and Caribbean origin.
