| Description |
Appointment to replace Rep. Steve Hailey, who died of cancer prior to taking his seat this session. GOP PCOs in the district voted on three candidates to send to the district's 18 county commissioners to make the appointment. 14 of those 18 commissioners voted for the replacement. Cox retired from the legislature in 2006 after eight terms but offered his name for the appointment presumably as a seat-warmer. The other two candidates for the seat were attorney Jeff Holy and businessman Jochen Engelke.
