The City of London was joined with the City of Westminster in 1948 to form one constituency. Since then it has been Conservative. Current MP Mark Field was elected for the first time in 2001, with 47% of the vote, having previously run a City recruitment firm.
At the election, boundary changes will have only a minor impact, bringing Bryanston and Dorset Square ward within the seat's boundaries, and losing the Lancaster Gate and Bayswater wards.

The Cities of London and Westminster seat contains the two historical centres of London: the City of London is one of the world's leading international financial centres, while Westminster contains the Houses of Parliament and Whitehall, the political heart of the country.
The seat is home to some of the most prestigious shopping areas in the capital, alongside landmarks including Buckingham Palace and St Paul's Cathedral.
It is also home to some of the wealthiest residents in the country, many of them foreign expatriates - at exclusive addresses in Mayfair, Belgravia and Knightsbridge.
The bulk of the population is found in Westminster, with only 6,000 or so residents in the City of London, where companies outnumber inhabitants. Unsurprisingly, tourism is a massive employer here, with many jobs in hotels, restaurants, theatres and museums.
