Republicans Alloway, Curley, Taylor and Cresswell all received write-in votes for the Democratic nomination, where no candidate had filed. Democrat Tushingham also waged a write-in campaign.
According to the three county websites, a total of 6,142 write-in votes we're cast in the Democratic Primary. According to media sources [Link] Tushingham garnered 1653 votes, while Alloway garnered 1229, Cresswell at 683, Taylor 641 and Cresswell at 622. With 1,314 others scattered.
According to the State website, Tushingham received 572 "official" votes to claim the nomination. As more than likely happened, the other 4 candidates did not claim the votes they received. Write-in candidates must petition to claim votes they received to garner the minimum (500 here) to win the nomination.
