The initial results for this race had Hope leading by 118 votes, 34437 to 34319. A mandatory recount found some votes initially counted as write-ins or scattering were actually cast for both candidates in similar numbers. Hope gained 49 votes in the recount and Loomis gained 29 votes, giving him the victory at the margin listed on this page.
