Description |
Special election to replace Gov. Eisaku Sato, who resigned following a scandal involving showing preference to family members regarding government contracts.
Senator Yuhei Sato is running to replace Eisaku Sato, but while they are not related, Sen. Sato also has some ethics issues regarding political donations from two scandal-tainted companies. One of these companies, Mizutani Kensetsu Company, is being investigated for tax evasion and gave Sen. Sato a 360,000¥ donation. The other company, Sato Kogyo Corporation, gave a 300,000¥ donation and is the company involved in the scandal with Gov. Sato and his younger brother, Yuji.
