Description |
Date of election per table in the newspaper the Farmer's Cabinet, 10/18/1828.
The Tennessee legislature nominated Jackson for President in 1825. St. Sen. Kennedy presented a document to the state senate on 10/6/1825 with the generic name of the "preamble and resolutions." The state senate unanimously placed Jackson in nomination. The state house took up the Preamble and Resolutions on 10/7/1825 and adopted them with only one dissenting vote. It was one of the earliest legislative nominations of a presidential candidate in U.S. history. [Pittsfield Sun, 11/3/1825]
