Democratic Nomination
William L. Saunders was re-nominated at the Democratic state convention unanimously on 6/25/1884. Although no other name was offered to the convention, a roll call was completed; it was described at the time as the "quickest roll call upon record" as every delegate vote was cast for Saunders (Goldsboro Messenger, 6/30/1884).
