Description |
Although elected to the seat, Sen. Vance never took office. Sen. Abbott, who placed second in the balloting, asked to be seated on the basis that Vance was ineligible to serve. The Senate did not accept his offer. One year after this election, the legislature held a special election to fill the vacancy.
