Description |
William Palmer fell 3,220 votes short of a majority in the General Election of 1832. The joint assembly convened on October 12 to hear the report of the canvassing committee and, in the case of the office of Governor, to vote by joint ballot for the three candidates who received the greatest number of votes. Palmer was elected on the 43rd ballot, receiving 111 of 221 ballots cast (50.2%). Crafts received 72 (32.6%), and Meech 37 (16.7%).
