Description |
For the first time in over a decade, more voters supported Democratic nominees for the U.S. Senate than those who voted Republican. The Democrats gained five seats plus three in special elections (including the seat of VP Curtis). As a result of the election, the Senate stood 48 Republicans, 47 Democrats, and one Farmer Labor Senator.
