The Democratic district convention was held in Greensboro on 7/4-8 and 7/27-28. The delegates were deadlocked among Stedman, Jones, Royster, and Mebane, with occasional votes for other contenders. The delegates nominated Stedman on the 438th ballot. Selected ballots are given below.
