DescriptionFar-left, Trotskyite party founded by activist Jorge Altamira as Política Obrera (named after his magazine). Party was rebranded Política Obrero in 1983 at the tail-end of the 1976 Argentine coup d'état which overthrew Isabel Perón as President of Argentina. Party was subsequently designated the official and exclusive representative of the Fourth International in Argentina and became a major component within the Trotskyite-orientated Left Front and Workers - Unity (FIT-U) alliance in 2011. Party was legalized on March 14, 1995. City of Buenos Aires legislator Gabriel Solano has been President of the Partido Obrero since 2019 [Partido Obrero (PO)].
