Conservative-liberal alliance led by Mwai Kibaki which won a landslide victory over the reigning KANU party in elections held on December 27, 2002. Coalition broke apart when Kibaki ally, the Liberal Democratic Party, turned enemy, forming the Orange Democratic Movement.
