Regionalist, ethnic Gambela people's interest party dissolved on December 1, 2019 ahead of a planned merger with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's Prosperity Party.
In November 22, 2019, the Prime Minister unified the constituent parties, which included the GPUDM, within his Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front coalition into the new Prosperity Party (with the exception of the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF)).
The Executive Committee of the GPUDM agreed to join the Prosperity Party on November 27, 2019 [Link]
