Center-left party which famously called itself a 'midway alternative' to former president Ferdinand E. Marcos and Marxist-Leninism. Party and, in particular, its leader and founder, former defense secretary Norberto B. Gonzales, have often toyed with Philippine leaders by threatening revolution or coup-etat. Gonzales is a candidate for president in 2022 [Partido Demokratiko Sosyalista ng Pilipinas (PDSP)].
