Sunni Islamist party better known as Tewassoul founded and led by Mohamed Jemil Ould Mansour. Mansour's links to the Muslim Brotherhood and extremist acts brought about his incarceration and forced exile. In spite of this notoriety, or perhaps because of it, Tewassoul has become the second largest political party in Mauritania [Rassemblement national pour la réforme et le développement (RNRD); التجمع الوطني للإصلاح و التنمية].
