| Description | Left-wing, anti-EU party co-founded by former deputy minister and Democratic Party member Stefano Fassina. Party began as a parliamentary group formed in June 2015 which incorporated the Left Ecology Freedom (SEL; dissolved in December 2016) and Possible (Pos). The Italian Left was later established as a party by founding members Left Ecology Freedom, Future of the Left and the Venetian Left in 2017 with a goal of 'disintegrating the Eurozone" and replacing it with a far-left structure modelled on Keynesian theories. Unable to gain traction with his Italian Left, Fassina later formed the more popular Free and Equal (Liberi e Uguali, LeU) coalition on December 3, 2017 with prosecutor Pietro Grasso as its president [Sinistra Italiana (SI); full name: Italian Left – Left Ecology Freedom ]. |
